With very special guest, Freda McKissic Bush, M.D.
Dr. Bush has been involved in women’s health for more than fifty years. She graduated with a bachelor’s degree from the University of Arkansas School of Nursing in 1967 and from Columbia University, New York, with a master’s in Nursing and Certificate in Nurse Midwifery (CNM) in 1970. She became Director of the Nurse Midwifery Program at the University of Mississippi in 1974. She graduated from the University of Mississippi Medical School in 1983 and completed her residency training at the University of Tennessee in Memphis in 1987.
Freda is a Fellow in the American College OB-GYN and a Life-time Member of the American Association of Pro-life OB-GYN.
Currently, Dr. Bush is CEO
and President of The Medical Institute for Sexual Health in Austin, TX. She co-authored two books with Joe S. McIlhaney, M.D., Hooked: New Science on How Casual Sex is Affecting Our Children, and Girls Uncovered, New Research on What America’s Sexual Culture Does to Young Women. She was a contributing writer to “Faith Matters: How African American Faith Communities Can Help Prevent Teen Pregnancy,” published by the National Campaign to Prevent Teen Pregnancy.
Dr. Bush served as a Presidential appointee to the Presidential Advisory Council on HIV/AIDS from 2006-2009.
Married for 48 years to her husband, Lee, they have four children, ten grandchildren and one great-grandchild. She enjoys spending time with her family and singing Gospel and spiritual music.
